Bactobio, based in London, is dedicated to creating a safer and greener world by harnessing valuable metabolites from microbial dark matter. Our mission revolves around the understanding that microbes in nature collaborate to protect their environment, producing chemistries that combat pathogens and degrade pollutants.

While only 1% of culturable microbes survive laboratory conditions, these microbes are responsible for most of the world’s antimicrobials, gene therapies, plant protectants, and clean chemistries. Bactobio leverages advancements in genomics, machine learning, and bioengineering to tap into the remaining 99% of microbes that have previously been unculturable.

Our primary focus is on discovering novel antimicrobials for healthcare and agriculture, aiming to contribute to a safer and greener future. By unlocking these microbes, we unveil new chemistries that are effective, specific, and biodegradable, ultimately benefiting both the environment and public health.
